Google will remove support for H.264 Chrome

Last year, Google has released the code of the VP8 codec WebMate and introduced the new format that is nothing but a stream Matroska. All major free projects added in a short time support for WebMate and Google also introduced him to YouTube.

Now comes the news that Big G is going to remove support for H.264 as the future version of Chrome codec for HTML5. The message is not explicit, but it is equally clear, will go to YouTube and H.264 WebMate will, in practice, almost put out of business, but the rest of the world will have time to adapt.

Also in this light we can read ads from a growing number of hardware manufacturers who choose to add the codec WebMate into their chip.

The buck will come into the hands of Apple and Microsoft. If the second if the can get away with future versions of the flash plugin which will introduce support for Apple WebMate the situation appears more critical.

Internet Explorer 6, 7, 8 is (still) most popular Chrome and Firefox

The statistics are not that close in 2010 with regard to encouraging the use of the browser. Despite the efforts by Microsoft to delete IE6 and integrate the standards of the W3C, Internet Explorer is still the most popular program for browsing the web. And, withdrawn from the market because considered obsolete, IE6 keeps more people than all the versions of Chrome.

According to the data on the prevalence of browser, Internet Explorer exceeds 58% of Web users: Firefox, the direct rival, does not reach the middle of downloading with about 22% of the global market. Unfortunately, the percentage of IE does not include the latest test version of the browser - the only one ready to challenge for HTML5. Google stands behind Mozilla, just around 9% of total users.

It is curious to note that Safari, the browser Apple has only 5% of the vote: the success of the iPhone and iPad not sufficient to ensure a more consistent. Typically, this type of statistics may be of interest only to shareholders in the industry, but the immaturity of browsers such as Internet Explorer 6 creates significant problems for those who are called to build web services. A situation that is not favorable.
